The property

This endearing ground floor lodge rests within the wonderful countryside village of Washford, in Somerset, within reach of an abundance of local sandy beaches and coastal walks. This lodge is the ideal spot for a couple looking to truly experience this area of Somerset. After a long day sightseeing, return to Cherry Lodge for a relaxing evening in the open-plan living space, with a large sofa for you to curl up with your partner and catch up on your favourite shows. Use the well-equipped kitchen for preparing delicious home-cooked romantic meals. The dining room table seats two people and is the perfect sociable space for dining together, or planning the day's events. As the evening draws to a close, retire to the brightly decorated double bedroom, boasting an en-suite bathroom, with a bath and shower over, so you can decide how best to prepare for your day. Outside has a  garden area which also offers stunning views. Off-road parking is available for one car. The little bustling village of Williton is only a short drive away where you will find traditional pubs and restaurants if you fancy eating out – in addition to a small selection of supermarkets for all your amenities. Alternatively, Washford is only a short stroll away, along with a range of energising walks with phenomenal views. You are ideally positioned for exploring the delightful nearby sandy beaches, great for spending the day topping up on that tan, or learning to surf in the water. The Tropiquaria Wildlife Park, a family-friendly zoo, is only within a short walking-distance from your lodge so a visit cannot go amiss: you can get up close with the extensive range of exotic reptiles, birds and a tropical aquarium. Additionally, if you feel like immersing yourself in a range of invigorating activities, there is a wealth of options in the area, from clay-pigeon shooting, CO2 shooting and archery to horse riding and sea fishing. Dunster Castle is also a National Trust treasure and West Somerset Railway both make lovely days out for families and couples alike. Too much to discover in one location, you'll find it difficult to fit everything into one trip! Return to Cherry Lodge of an evening to relax and unwind for the days ahead.

About the Location

Washford is a West Somerset rural village, on the A39 between Minehead and Bridgwater. Located two miles from the pretty coastal port of Watchet, this is an ideal base from which to explore Exmoor National Park and The Quantock Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are many pretty coastal and inland villages to explore including Porlock with its steep hill and pretty winding streets, Dunster with dramatic castle perched above the historic village and the busy resort of Minehead with sandy beach, golf course and traditional seaside attractions. An excellent choice of holiday destination for rural beauty, dramatic coastline and splendid walking.
There are a multitude of rural pursuits including walking, horse riding, fishing and golf, plus two miles away is the pretty ancient port of Watchet and Blue Anchor Beach. There is also Clay Pigeon Shooting, Archery and Co2 Pistol Shooting for larger groups to enjoy (advance bookings only, contact for more information). Four miles away are the village of Dunster, which offers a wealth of historic buildings including an 11th century National Trust owned castle. For family fun, a 15 minute drive takes you to Minehead with a delightful seafront, sandy beach, plenty of shops and departure station for the West Somerset Railway.
