Upon entering Oak Lodge, you are welcomed into the open-plan living space, boasting charming oak flooring, exposed beams and contemporary furnishings and fixtures to ensure a relaxing getaway at any time of year. Curl up on the plush sofas, which rest in front of a roaring wood-burner and 55" TV, making the perfect spot for unwinding with a glass of wine after a busy day. The sitting room is joined by a well-equipped kitchen, benefiting from all the necessities to cater for yourselves throughout your stay. After dinner, spend a moment or two upon the well-presented, covered decked area, where you can enjoy your picturesque surroundings in the luxury garden furniture before dipping into the bubbling hot tub, all under cover so you can enjoy your family holiday whatever the weather. As the evening draws to a close, look forward to retiring to one of the wonderful bedrooms, comprising of a king-size bedroom and a twin bedroom. For those special occasions, venture to the nearby village of Williton where you will be delighted to find a choice of pubs, in addition to a selection of shops for picking up the essentials. If you are visiting with younger guests, the Tropiquaria Wildlife Park is situated a short distance from the cottage, offering a wonderful day visiting exotic reptiles and birds For those feeling active, you will find miles of walking and cycling routes on the Exmoor National Park with picturesque scenery as your backdrop. There is also a host of activity's locally including Clay Pigeon Shooting, Archery, Co2 pistol shooting, Horse riding, Sea fishing, not forgetting the Steam Railway and Dunster Castle. Alternatively, venture out the coast where you will find the popular resorts of Minehead and Weston-Super-Mare, each boasting a glorious sandy beach and a memorable family-friendly day out. Oak Lodge is a wonderful base for spending time with your loved ones.
About the Location
Washford is a West Somerset rural village, on the A39 between Minehead and Bridgwater. Located two miles from the pretty coastal port of Watchet, this is an ideal base from which to explore Exmoor National Park and The Quantock Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are many pretty coastal and inland villages to explore including Porlock with its steep hill and pretty winding streets, Dunster with dramatic castle perched above the historic village and the busy resort of Minehead with sandy beach, golf course and traditional seaside attractions. An excellent choice of holiday destination for rural beauty, dramatic coastline and splendid walking. There are a multitude of rural pursuits including walking, horse riding, fishing and golf, plus two miles away is the pretty ancient port of Watchet and Blue Anchor Beach. There is also Clay Pigeon Shooting, Archery and Co2 Pistol Shooting for larger groups to enjoy (advance bookings only, contact for more information). Four miles away are the village of Dunster, which offers a wealth of historic buildings including an 11th century National Trust owned castle. For family fun, a 15 minute drive takes you to Minehead with a delightful seafront, sandy beach, plenty of shops and departure station for the West Somerset Railway. A wonderful cottage in a perfect location for exploring the area.
